Aurel Schmidt is an artist from Canada who is represented by Deitch Projects in New York. She uses pencil and washes of color to create what could be coined "gutter art." It is hard to not notice the similarities to the Italian Renaissance artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Her exhibition entitled "Maneater" ran from October through November of 2008. The above images are from her series called "Zombies." Got to respect the technique from one realist to another.
